The Missouri Softball team (24-10) won the Missouri Invitational after a perfect 5-0 record in the tournament. The Tigers were scheduled to play one more game, but it was cancelled to due extreme cold and drizzle. The Tigers did take on the Drake Bulldogs and won 3-0.
The Tigers scored one run in each the third, fourth and sixth innings. In the third, Stacy Gemeinhardt drove a triple to left center field. The next batter, Mary McGrane, who was pinch-hitting for Karen Williams, scored Gemeinhardt on a RBI-single. In the fourth, Erin Erickson led off the inning with a double. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Dara Throneburg. Erickson scored on an error by the Bulldog shortstop, Michelle Lyman.
The Tigers final run came in the sixth inning. Throneburg scored on a Lindsay Jacoby RBI-single to left field.
Ingrid Werner got the win for the Tigers. She tallied six strikeouts and walked no one in her second one hitter of the season. Her record stands at 10-4.
The Tigers have nearly a week off before they begin Big 12 Conference play in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 25.
