Tiger Tennis Loses Third Straight

March 15, 2000

The Missouri Tigers fell to the Kansas State Wildcats 7-2 this afternoon at Ahearn Field House. The Wildcats got their revenge after falling 7-2 to the Tigers last season. The wins for Missouri came at the No. 3 and No. 6 singles spots. Freshman Kristina Olshanskaya continues to dominate her opponents at No. 3. She improved her record to 5-7 (3-2 at No.3) with a two-set win over Anna Pampoulova. Pampoulova, who saw just her second loss, was a member of the Big 12 All-Conference team last season.

After a long absence, senior Jelena Kocergin returned to the Missouri lineup, taking the win at No. 6. Kocergin beat K-State's Natalia Farmer 6-1, 6-1. The senior last saw action against the Air Force Academy on Feb. 13.

Missouri moves to 3-10 overall, 1-6 in the Big 12 while Kansas State sits at 7-4 overall, 2-0 in the conference. The Tigers take a break from conference play with a match against Southeast Missouri on March 22. It will be the first of a four-match homestand for the Tigers.
