Box Score

The Missouri Softball team (16-9) finished day two of the Missouri Round Robin with one win and one loss for the day. Even though Tiger Pitcher Stephanie Falk was credited with the loss, she should still consider her time on the mound a success. Falk pitched the complete eight innings for the Tigers and recorded a career-high 19 strikeouts. 18 of her strikeouts were in the regulation seven innings of play.

The Tigers played the Salukis of Southern Illinois in the first game. The Tigers fought hard, but could not get more than one hit in an inning, to pull off the win.

The Salukis started the scoring in the second inning. Lori Greiner hit a solo homer to right field to give the Southern Illinois the 1-0 lead.

The Tigers weren't able to tie the game until the bottom of the fifth. Mary McGrane walked. Sara McNeal came in to pinch run for McGrane and stole second. McNeal scored and tied the game at one on a Christy Skouby RBI single to the pitcher.

The score remained tied through regulation. The game went immediately to international tiebreaker rules in the top of the eighth inning. Jessica Laughry was placed at second to start the inning. She advanced to third on a Katie Kloess sacrifice bunt. Amanda Rexroat reached first on a fielder's choice, which scored Kloess. It was a close call at the plate, but Tiger catcher Amy Farmer barely missed the tag. The Salukis took the 2-1 lead.

The Tigers had two runners on in the bottom of the inning, but were not able to capitalize, giving Southern Illinois the 2-1 win.

Stephanie Falk got the loss for the Tigers. Her record moved to 7-6. She struck out 19 batters and didn't walk anyone.

There was not much excitement in the second game. Neither team got runners past second base, except for the one Missouri run that scored. In the bottom of the third inning Stacy Gemeinhardt scored on a Christy Skouby double.

Ingrid Werner picked up the win for the Tigers. Her record is now 7-3.

The Tigers are now 3-1 in the Missouri Round Robin. The tournament wraps up tomorrow. Missouri will play Northern Iowa at 2 p.m. and Southern Illinois and 4 p.m. The games will be played inside the Devine Pavilion.
