COLUMBIA, MO., - The remainder of the Easton Showcase Softball Tournament in Fullerton, Calif. has been cancelled due to continual rain. The Tigers were scheduled to play one game last night and two today before heading back to Columbia.
The Tigers finished with a 2-1 record in the tournament, placing them behind No. 7 California and No. 11 Cal State-Fullerton with 3-0 records.
Missouri had one of their best weekends of the 2000 season. They performed well against some of the nation's top teams, proving that they are one of the nation's best as well. Missouri lost to No. 7 by only one point in nine innings on Friday. They beat Pacific, who is receiving votes in the NFCA poll, 7-2 and San Jose State 2-1. Every player on the team played a big part in Missouri's impressive performances in at least one of the games.
Stacy Gemeinhardt, Linda Swarts and Stephanie Falk also moved up in the record books. Gemeinhardt moved up to third on the career hits list, with 188 hits. Falk surpassed Barb Wright to place fourth on the career strikeouts list. Swarts moved into the top 10 in career RBI with 78.
The Tigers have a busy week next week. They will face Loyola Wednesday at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. at University Field and will then host the Missouri Round Robin on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
