Missouri dominated the match from start to finish, netting its first two goals in the first ten minutes of action. Sophomore defender Dyana Russell got the first scoring play started with a perfectly placed crossing pass from just outside the 18-yard box. Grimsley settled that pass and then shovled a pass of her own to Thole once the Jayhawk golakeeper had committed. Thole scored easily and Missouri led 1-0. Thole?s score marked the fifth consecutive game she has scored a goal in, extending her school record.
Kristin Boeker set up the second Tiger goal, after her corner kick was sent back out of the box. Boeker settled the ball then sent a second pass from the corner into a crowd in front of the net. Buchheit volleyed the pass into the upper-right corner for her first score of?99. Missouri 2, Kansas 0.
Just 1:45 into the second half, Thole struck again on another ball set up by the defense. Defender Mandy Waters carried the ball down the right hand side, sending a cross to an open Amy Timmermann near the left goalpost. Timmermann moved towards the goalkeeper and then at the last instant slid a pass through the keeper to Thole who knocked in her second of the game and seventh of the season.
Grimsley rounded out the MU scoring by converting a penalty kick at 85:49 for her fifth goal of the season. The Tiger forward got the PK attempt after she was hauled down by a KU defender as she was about to attempt a shot on goal inside the penalty box.
