
Tigers Strike Out Mules

The Missouri Tigers broke a Big 12 record on Wednesday by striking out 20 Central Missouri State hitters as the Tigers defeated the Mules 11-5. Five Missouri pitchers, paced by Justin Stine's nine strikeouts, combined for the record previously held by Texas Tech who had struck out 18 batters from Lindenwood College. The old Big Eight record was 20,also held by the Tigers.
Missouri trailed 3-0 after 3 1/2 innings, but cut the lead to 3-2 in the fourth. After falling behind 4-2, Missouri exploded for four runs in the sixth inning and added five more in the eighth. Mike Rallo (2-for-5, 3 RBI) led the Mizzou attack with two opposite field home runs, his third and fourth tators of the season. Aaron Wilson and Jake Epstein each had two hits and 2 RBI.
Ralph McCasland earned his second win of the season in relief. He pitched 1 1/2 innings allowing an unearned run on one hit. He contributed four strikeouts and did not walk anyone. Ryan Jamison collected his second save as he retired all four men he faced, two by strikeouts.
