
Tigers Fall to Texas Tech

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The 18th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders (15-5, 4-1) took game two of a three game set from the Missouri Tigers (8-6, 1-4) by a score of 8-1 on a frigid day in Columbia, Mo. The two teams will meet in the series finale at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Simmons Field.
Texas Tech starting pitcher Kevin Tracey (4-1) and reliever Brandon Roberson combined to hold Missouri to just four hits in the game. Mitch Kiler, making his first start of the season for the Tigers, took the loss.
The Red Raiders led by a score of 1-0 heading into the fourth inning. After Kiler retired the first two hitters, Scott Holzhauer got a fly ball into the wind that blew it over the right field wall for his second home run of the year to give Texas Tech a 2-0 lead. Lance Woodcock came up next and singled. After Woodcock stole second base, Jason Huth (2-for-3, 2 RBI) singled him home with a single to center field to make a 3-0 contest.
With the Red Raiders holding a 5-1 advantage in the seventh inning, Tech's Josh Bard connected for a two-run home run off of the right field foul pole to give the Red Raiders a 7-1 lead. Huth drove in another run in the eighth for the Red Raiders.
Tracey hurled 5 1/3 innings for Texas Tech giving up just one run on two hits. Roberson came out of the bullpen to pitch 3 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball while allowing just two hits while striking out four.
