
Stine Pitches Tigers Past Western Illinois

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers (10-7) ran their record to 10-7 on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-3 win over Western Illinois (0-9) at Simmons Field. Justin Stine pitched seven innings for Mizzou en route to his first victory of the season.
Missouri owned a 2-0 lead after four inning of play. Stine was rolling along until the Leathernecks struck for three runs in the fifth. After a run scored on wild pitch, Jeff Wellwood drove in two more runs with a single to give Western Illinois a 3-2.
Reliever Ryan Johnson (0-3) kept the lead intact until the seventh inning when the Tigers put a three spot on the board. Dustin Barnes (2-for-3) drove in a run with a double. On the same play, the Leathernecks left fielder Jessup French kicked the ball in the corner allowing another Missouri run to cross the plate. The third run of the inning came across on a sacrifice fly by Wes Fewell.
Stine allowed just three runs on four hits, while striking out five and walking two. Ryan Jamison collected his third save by pitching two scoreless innings in relief.
