COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Wichita State Shockers (14-5), ranked 11th in the country, clubbed eight home runs at Simmons Field on Tuesday as they defeated Missouri (10-8) by a score of 12-1. Shockers starting pitcher Ben Christensen (3-1) shut down the Missouri bats for just one run on three hits.
The story of the day was Wichita State catcher Brian Preston. Preston homered four times in the game, a Wichita State record, and drove in five runs. Left fielder Jeff Ryan added two long balls for the Shockers and Pat Magness homered for the fourth time in two days.
Missouri starting pitcher Jody Harris (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season after giving up five home runs. Freshman Wes Fewell had two of Missouri's three hits including an RBI single that drove in Jon Williams who had the only other hit for the Tigers.
