Men's Golf Finishes 18th at Birkdale Classic

Huntersville, N.C. - The University of Missouri men's golf team finished in 18th place at the UNC-Charlotte Birkdale Classic, held March 12-13, 1999, at Birkdale Golf Club, in Huntersville, N.C. The Tigers, playing with two senior, a sophomore and two freshmen, shot team rounds of 316, 312 and 316 to account for a three-round team score of 944. That put the Tigers just four strokes behind Rhode Island, which finished 17th, at 940.
Freshman JANSZEN RINGO (81-75-75=231) led the individually for Missouri, as he tied for 48th overall, with a three-round total of 231. That marked already the second time in three spring tournaments that the freshman from Ironton, Mo. has led Missouri individually.
Next up for the Tigers was senior ETHAN ROST (81-79-77=237), who tied for 68th place overall, with his total of 237, which is a spring season personal best 54-hole total.
Sophomore BLAYNE ROSELY (78-79-82=239) was just two strokes back, as he tied for 75th place, with a three-round score of 239. He was followed closely by freshman CORY EWERT (76-82-82=240), who tied for 78th, and senior JAKE "the Snake" POE (81-79-84=244), who tied for 87th overall.
Missouri's next competition comes March 22-23, as the Tigers travel to Turlock, Calif., where they'll participate in the Stevinson Ranch Invitational.
