Dallas, Texas - University of Missouri forward Amanda Lassiter has been named the Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced today. Lassiter, a 6-1 junior forward, averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.0 blocks in two Missouri wins last week. For the season, Lassiter is averaging 12.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.1 steals, and 3.5 blocks per contest.

In a convincing 78-65 win over St. Louis University on Saturday night, Lassiter registered 20 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks. She scored 13 points, while adding four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in her team's 66-61 victory at Southern Illinois-Carbondale last Tuesday night. Lasssiter's double-double versus SLU was her second of the season, though her first may have been some what more impressive. In Missouri's Nov. 27, 85-61 win over San Diego State, Lassiter not only scored a team-high 17 points, but also collected a Big 12 Conference record 11 steals as the Tigers cruised to the San Diego State Classic title.

Winners of their last six, the Tigers (7-1) next play Saturday, December 18 when they travel to Eastern Illinois for a 7:00 p.m. game. MU returns home December 22 to host Illinois State at the Hearnes Center.
