Aaron Lo Earns Conference Honor

The Big 12 Conference announced today it swimmers and divers of the month based on performances in November. Selections were made by a vote of the league's head swimming and diving coaches.

Aaron Lo of Missouri and Nebraska's Adam Pine were selected as the male swimmers of the month. On the women's side, Shandra Johnson of Nebraska and Colleen Lanne' of Texas were chosen as female swimmers of the month. Texas swept the diving category as Troy Dumais picked up right were he left off last season being named male diver of the month while Kristen Marquis was named the female diver of the month.

Lo, a junior from Whitby, Ontario, Canada, won every individual event in which he competed against Kansas and Southern Illinois at the Illinois Dial Extravaganza. He claimed victories in the 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and the 100 individual medley. Lo also swam as a member of the Tigers' winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Against Western Illinois, Lo captured the 50 and 100 freestyle events while also anchoring the winning 200 medley relay.

To close out the semester of competition, Lo claimed the 50-meter freestyle title at the Indiana Invitational. He also placed second in the 100-meter freestyle, third in the 100-meter breaststroke and eighth in the 100-meter butterfly. In both the freestyle events as well as the 100 breast, Lo swam to Canadian Olympic Trial qualifying standards for the first time in his career.

This is the first time the junior has earned Big 12 Swimmer-of-the-Month honors in his three year career. Lo has led the team for the past two seasons and will be looked upon to continue to do so and MU will finally get a chance to compete at home following the holiday break.
