Tigers Take On Western Illinois

After taking a week off from competition, both of the Missouri swimming and diving team head to Macomb, Ill. on Friday, November 19 to take on Western Illinois. Mizzou will take to the water at 6:00p.m. This will mark the Tigers final dual meet of the semester.

Tigers Look To Stay Undefeated Against Land of Lincoln

For the men's team, it will be the second Illinois team the Tigers will face this season. MU took down Southern Illinois at the Illinois Dual Extravangza by a score of 249-209. The Mizzou men will be looking for their second consecutive dual win over an Illinois team.

Tigers Down Jayhawks and Salukis

For the men, the Illinois Dual Extravangza took on a different format than for the women. The men had three separate meets against arch-rival Kansas and Southern Illinois with the points carrying over from one meet to the next. After all three session were complete and the points tallied, Missouri came out of the weekend 2-0 defeating KU 247-218 and SIU 249-209.

The men's win over KU marked only the second win the Tigers have had over the Jayhawks under head coach Brian Hoffer in the last eight years. "For such a young team to beat two good teams over a three session dual meet was outstanding," Hoffer said. "It also lets us know that this team is capable of sustaining itself over a three day prelim and final meet such as Big 12s."

Good Times For Tigers' Lo

Junior Aaron Lo is continuing his winning ways from last season. The sprint ace won all four individual events in which he competed in the double dual against Kansas and Southern Illinois. He won the 50 free, 50 breast, 100 breast and 100 IM. He also swam on MU's winning 400 free, 200 and 400 medley relays. In the Black and Gold Intrasquad meet, Lo won both the 50 free and 100 breast. On Friday in Macomb, Lo will be looking for his fifth consecutive individual victory.

Young Men Taking Big Steps

The Tiger freshman swimmers and divers on the men's side are turning heads only one month into the season. Matt Ferrarelli and Radu Micluas have won six events between them while Dane Pedersen has been in several close races in the distance races. Divers Jason Otte and Jamie Sweeney have been carrying the load in the diving events for the Tigers thus far in the season.

Ferrarelli won the 200 IM against Iowa State and the 200 back against Kansas and Southern Illinois. Ferrarelli's time in the 200 back currently ranks third on MU's All-Time top-five. Miclaus won the 200 free and 100 fly his first time out of the blocks at the Black and Gold meet followed by 200 fly wins against Iowa State, Kansas and Southern Illinois.
