Helm, Tigers Defeat Sport Tours

COLUMBIA, Mo.- Julie Helm scored 28 points while Missouri's defensive pressure forced 33 turnovers as the Tigers downed Sport Tours by a score of 93-60 on Wednesday night at the Hearnes Center. Missouri wrapped up the exhibition season with a perfect 2-0 record. The Tigers will begin regular season play on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Bradley.

The Tigers jumped on the touring team from Latvia early by taking a 14-4 lead. After Sport Tours cut the score to 22-14 at the 11:11 mark, the Tigers went on a 15-5 run to take a 39-19 advantage with 4:35 left in the first half. Missouri, led by Helm's 19 first half points, took a 49-24 lead into halftime.

Missouri opened the second half with an 18-4 run, forcing Sport Tours into five turnovers in that span.

Amy Monsees and Marlena Williams added 11 points a piece for Missouri. Monsees added five steals. Helm finished the night 10-for-13 from the field while recording six reboudns and three assists.
