Waco, Texas - The University of Missouri men?s golf team finished in 10th place at the 1999 Greg May Honda/Baylor Invitational, which wrapped up today with 18 holes of play at Ridgewood Country Club, in Waco, Texas.
The Tigers came out of the gates strong, as they stood in second place as a team after yesterday?s first round. But a second-round team score of 300 left them in ninth, and the Tigers couldn?t make up any more ground, despite improving to a teams score of 292 in the final round, as they slipped one notch to 10th.
Individually, senior David Suggs and sophomore Cory Ewert led the way for MU, as the duo tied for 16th, with identical three-round totals of 217 (7-over par). Suggs was the steady one, posting an opening-round of 74, and improving each of the next two rounds, with scores of 73 and 70. Ewert fired an opening-round 66 (4-under par) to storm out to the tournament lead. He found himself in second overall after a second round of 73, and his final round of 78 today dropped him to 16th.
Other Tiger competitors included Blayne Rosely (T-34th ? 221), Doyle Moffitt (71st ? 228) and Tom Vogt (T-77th ? 232).
Head Coach Tim Robyn?s Tigers will now have nearly a month off until they wrap up the fall season at the Mauna Kea Resort Challenge, in Kona, Hi.
