Box Score

Columbia, Mo. - Regulation time and two overtime periods could not determine a winner of the Missouri women?s soccer match Sunday as the Tigers and Texas Longhorns played to a 0-0 tie at Walton Stadium.

Missouri finished Big 12 regular season play at 6-3-1 while the Longhorns finished at 4-4-2. Overall Missouri stands at 11-5-1 with one weekend remaining in its regular season schedule. Senior goalkeeper Jackie Adamec recorded the shutout in net for Missouri.

The match was littered with opportunities for Missouri to score, particularly in the two overtime periods when the Tigers outshot the visiting Longhorns 14-2. MU held a 33-10 advantage in shots taken for the match.

?We just could not capitalize and get one in the net,? Missouri Head Coach Bryan Blitz said. ?Give Texas alot of credit, they came out and defended us well.?

Erin Grimsley led the Missouri attack with a career-high nine shots, including three shots on goal. But Texas goalkeeper Cami Varnadore stonewalled MU with 16 saves.

The scoreless tie was the first in Missouri soccer history and was the first match of 1999 in which Missouri did not score.

The Tigers finish the 1999 schedule next weekend when they travel to Purdue on Friday for a match beginning at 3pm and then return home to host Tulsa on Sunday, October 31 at Walton Stadium beginning at 1pm.
