COLUMBIA, Mo.- The University of Missouri Athletic Department deemed Saturday night's Select-a-Seat Night a success. A total of 136 season tickets were sold in a two-hour span. Between 500 to 1000 Missouri fans were in attendance to purchase remaining season tickets, eat pizza and soda and meet the Missouri football team.
The Faurot Field gates were opened at 6:00 p.m. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets were directed to the sections of the stadium marked by orange pylons to where they were able to select their seats for the 1999 football season. At 7:30 p.m., Coach Larry Smith and members of the Missouri football team entered the stadium and were seated along the north end for pictures and autographs.
Also benefiting from the successful night was the Tiger Team Store. According to store supervisor Lida Lenz, the Tiger Team Store sold $1800 in merchandise featuring the new Tiger logos.
"We were glad to host such a successful event," said Director of Marketing and Promotions Don Guckenberger. "It is important for us to provide an enjoyable atmosphere and to give our fans a chance to buy the best season tickets available."
