Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Tiger wrestling team was defeated by Northern Iowa Friday night 29-12 in the Hearnes Fieldhouse. The loss stopped MU's winning streak at three and moved their record to 3-5 on the season. The Panthers are now 7-7 this season.

The Tigers lost the first three matches by a total of five points, as John Kopnisky, Jason Moore and Kevin Herron were defeated by their Panther opponents. A pin of Chad Hertzog by Burt Beamer increased the UNI lead to 15-0 after the fourth match. After forfeiting the 125 match to MUs Jake Lapinski, the Panthers won four of the next five matches in route to their seventh victory.

MU's Jeff Urban, ranked 19th in the nation at 149, gained his 18th win of the season and increased his consecutive dual matches won streak to seven with a pin of Mike Kerker in 4:29.

The Tigers will next wrestle Sunday, February 7 at 2 pm when they host Iowa State in the Hearnes Fieldhouse in Big 12 conference dual action.
