Bad News Bears

September 14, 1998

The Missouri Tigers took prey on the Bears last Friday at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium. In a 7-1 victory, Missouri showed remnances of their first home game versus Loyola on September 4th. After rambling on to a 7-0 victory the Tigers have now scored more goals in three games than in ten in 1997. Sophomore Nikki Thole has had two hat tricks in the past two home games. Never before in MU Soccer history had a player scored one hat trick, let alone two. She now holds the record for most points in a single game (7), and is the season leader in points at 13. Defense is the best offense, however. Junior defenders Heather Buchheit and Jennifer Kram ignited the offense when they both added assists on Friday. Kram set up the first of sophomore Kristin Boeker's two goals. While Buchheit fed junior Erin Grimsley a pass to put away her first of two as well. Missouri finishes off the Mid-Missouri rivalry Tuesday, September 15th against Saint Louis University. The Tigers have yet to beat the Billkens for the bragging rights of best in the state. Kickoff between the Tigers and Billikens is 4:00 p.m. at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium (Columbia, Mo.).
