Hearnes Center Fieldhouse History

First opened in 1972, the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse is home to Mizzou's indoor track & field facility. Named for Missouri's 46th governor and 1952 MU graduate, Warren E. Hearnes, the Fieldhouse originally contained a Martin encapsulated surface, 200-meter track with an eight-lane sprint straightaway and multiple runways for the pole vault and horizontal jumps. In its 42-year history, the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse has hosted a Big Eight Indoor Track & Field Championship (1991) and yearly collegiate and high school meets.
