Michael Lindsey serves as the lead custodian at the Mizzou Athletics Training Complex. Lindsey spearheads the hiring and orientation process for the part-time housekeeping personnel. He has collaborated and developed relationships with several organizations including ACT, Alternative Community Training and Moresource, Inc. These relationships have proven vital to the development of the housekeeping personnel. For his inclusive hiring practices, the Columbia Employment Consortium gave him the Inclusive Business of the Year Award in 2015.
Lindsey has been a long-time resident of Columbia and supporter of the athletic department. Lindsey's main focus is to support the department's mission and to help develop quality student-athletes in any way he can.
Before working with the athletic department, Lindsey was the Ride Smart National Inc. President from 1998-2003. He was the co-founder and manager of the Smart Ride Alcohol and Rape Awareness Program, which provide 56,000 safe rides in the community. From 2001-2003 Lindsey was the National Hope Association President. He established the corporation as the non-profit side for the donated car program to allow tax deductions for the automobile donors. Currently, Lindsey serves on the board of directors for the NHA seeking to raise funds for not-for-profit organizations through the development of fund raising initiatives including the Cars 4 Columbia Donated Car Program. The NHA under Lindsey’s direction has donated 17 cars to residents and families in need in the Columbia community.
Lindsey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Columbia College in 1992. He and his wife Angeline have a daughter named Keely and a son named Cole.
