In his first season as an attached wrestler, Boyd competed in five tournaments for the Tigers and made his way onto the starting lineup for four duals.
Took third place at the UCM Open, his only loss coming against Eddie Klimara (Oklahoma St.).
First collegiate dual start and win was against Alan Callahan of Baker.
Finished in fifth place at the Joe Parisi and Kaufman-Brand Opens, picking up six wins and four losses between the two tournaments.
Had 15 wins on the season, five of which came by major decision, technical fall, or pin.

FRESHMAN (2011-12)

Took his redshirt this season and competed in four tournaments as an unattached wrestler.
Placed sixth at the UCM Open, earning his first collegiate win against Jordan Krenek (Newman) by a major decision, 12-3.
Finished in second place at the Kaufman-Brand Open, losing to Missouri's Alan Waters in the finals.
Won all three of his matches at the Roger Denker Open to take the title.
Picked up 12 wins in his first season with the Tigers.

CARY HIGH SCHOOL (CARY, N.C.)

His junior and senior years combined, he had a record of 102-5.
Finished second place at state his junior year at 119 pounds, and finished third place at state his senior year at 125 pounds.
Competed at Nationals his sophomore year (sixth place finish) and senior year (fourth place finish).
Lettered all four years in both wrestling and golf.
Was a two-time All-American throughout high school.
In 2009, he qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Tournament after shooting rounds of 70 and 66, good for eight-under (-8) par.
Academically, Boyd was a member of the honor roll.

PERSONAL

Was born on Feb. 22, 1992 to Dale and Diane Boyd in Lexington, Ky.
Has one younger sibling, Sydney.
His grandfather, Dale Sr., and his father, Dale Jr., wrestled at the University of Delaware.
