Larson enters his first year as the Mizzou volleyball head strength and conditioning coach.
Prior to joining the Tigers coaching staff, Larson was a four-time NCAA qualifier for Mizzou wrestling from 2010-13. During his senior campaign in Columbia, Mo., Larson notched his first career All-American honors at 184 pounds.
With a career record of 101-49-0, he places T-19th in all-time Mizzou wrestling wins. On March 21, 2013, Larson earned his 100th career win against Daniel Rinaldi (Rutgers).
After transferring to Mizzou following the 2010 campaign at Cal-State Bakersfield, Larson racked up 77 wins as a Tiger at the 184 pounds level. Larson also claimed a Big 12 Championship in his weight class at the 2012 tournament.
Also during his senior 2013 season, Larson earned the Hap Whitney Coach's Award, which is given to the Mizzou wrestler who displays dedication, commitment, sacrifice and unselfishness to the team on a consistent basis. The year before during his junior campaign, Larson was tabbed the team's Most Improved Wrestler.
Mike Larson is the son of Jon and Lori Larson, and was born on July 6, 1990 in Arcata, Calif. He has one younger brother, Shane.
