Enters her first season with the Tigers as a defender.
Head coach Stefanie Golan on Gates: “Jasira is a really gritty defender who is going to add some depth to our back line. She is tough to beat one-on-one and she throws her body in front of anything in the box to block opportunities from the opponent. Jasira has a fighter's mentality that we look forward to developing in Black and Gold.”

Named Metro League Player of the Year (2025) and Metro League Defensive Player of the Year (2025).
Selected to the Missouri Athletic Club All-Star Game (2025).
Two-time Class 3 First Team All-State honoree.
Three-time Class 3 All-Region selection.
Four-time STL Best XI First Team and three-time First Team All-Metro League honoree.
Helped John Burroughs to three Metro League championships and the 2025 district title.
Tallied 15 goals and 13 assists as a senior defender.
Led her team to an undefeated season in 2022 and a No. 1 state ranking in 2023.
Played club soccer for St. Louis Scott Gallagher ECNL Navy.
Named a 2024 U17 ECNL All-American.
Two-time ECNL Midwest First Team All-Conference (2022, 2024).
Helped SLSG qualify for the ECNL Champions League Playoffs in four straight seasons, including the 2021 ECNL Midwest Conference championship.
Also a member of the Missouri Olympic Development Program.
Active in community service with SPENSA.

Personal

Born Feb. 6, 2007, in St. Louis, Mo.
Daughter of John and Jamila Gates; has one sister, Jade, and one brother, John.
Father played collegiate soccer at Southern Illinois Edwardsville and professionally for the St. Louis Ambush; mother ran track at North Carolina A&T; sister Jade competes in track and field at Kentucky; brother John played soccer at Loyola Chicago.
Majoring in Business and Sports Management.
Chose Mizzou for the connection with the coaching staff, the team culture, and the chance to represent her home state.
Lists her most memorable soccer moment as making school history by winning the program’s first district championship.
Enjoys spending time with friends in her free time.
Career goal is to become a sports psychologist.
Favorite music service is Apple Music.
Can’t live without her family and dog.
Biggest inspiration is her father, who she says has been a role model since day one, demonstrating work ethic, dedication, and unwavering support.
