Kolby Banker is in his fourth season with the Mizzou soccer program, serving as the director of player analysis after spending his first season as the volenteer assistant coach.

A native of Grand Island, N.Y., Banker comes to Mizzou after a year as an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi during the 2014 season.

Banker entered coaching after a collegiate career at St. Bonaventure, where he appeared in all 19 games and making 18 starts as a senior. In addition to providing a strong defensive presence, he also was able to jump in on the offensive end, scoring a goal in a 3-1 win over Niagara, when he headed home a corner kick at the far post. He also assisted on Brad Vanino’s second goal in a victory over Howard on Sept. 8.

In his four-year career, Banker played in 66 games on the back line for the Bonnies, making 61 starts over that period. St. Bonaventure increased its win total in each of Banker’s final three years. In his freshman campaign, his only goal came in the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals against St. Louis.

Banker comes from a coaching pedigree, as both of his parents have spent time on the sidelines. His mother, Jenepher, coached basketball at Penn State-Behrend at the collegiate level, then went on to coach at Grand Island High School for 15 years. His father, Brett, coached softball and served as an assistant athletics director at Penn State-Behrend and is currently the Director of Coaching for the Grand Island Soccer Club. Banker’s sister, Kallie, is on the women’s basketball team at the University of Rhode
Island.
