Former Mizzou soccer associate head coach Amy Edwards returns to the Tiger sideline as Missouri’s volunteer assistant coach in 2017. Edwards previously served on Mizzou’s coaching staff from 2004-2008.
Edwards spent the past eight seasons as the head coach at Gonzaga. Her 55 wins at Gonazaga rank second-most in program history and her 2010 squad tied the Bulldogs’ highest West Coach Conference finish in team history. Over her eight years in Spokane, She coached six All-WCC selections.
Edwards spent her last two seasons at Mizzou as the associate head coach after serving as assistant coach from 2004-06. She helped lead the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007 and 2008 and the 2008 Big 12 Conference Tournament title. Missouri went 29-13-5 over Edwards’ final two seasons in Columbia.
Before her time at Mizzou, Edwards spent five years as an assistant coach at Notre Dame, In her time in South Bend, the Irish compiled a 74-16-2 record, made two College Cup appearances and claimed three consecutive Big East Conference titles from 1999-01.
Edwards was head coach of her alma mater Tulsa from 1995-99. Under her direction, the Golden Hurricane recorded a 47-25-6 record and had six student-athletes named to the regional All-America team.
A native of Broken Arrow, Okla., Edwards was a four-year starter at Tulsa from 1988-92 and earned All-America honors as a senior. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tulsa in 1992 and earned a master’s degree in education from Tulsa in 1997. She is currently pursuing a master’s of education degree from the University of Missouri in Positive Coaching.
The former Hurricane was inducted into the Tulsa Athletic Hall of Fame in September 2013. She is also a member of the Broken Arrow High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
