Former Tiger standout golfer Mindy Coyle is in her 16th season as part of the Mizzou coaching staff. Since taking over at her alma mater prior to the 2006-07 season, Coyle has helped lead Mizzou to NCAA Regional competition five times overall, including two of the last four years (2016, 2018).
Coyle concluded her playing career by leading the Tigers to their first-ever NCAA Championships appearance in 2005. Her playing days were highlighted by a runner-up finish at the 2003 Big 12 Conference Championships hosted by Missouri.
As a coach, the former Mizzou star helped the team to a third place finish at the 2011 Big 12 Championships and enticed one of the country's top recruiting classes to Columbia for the 2011-12 campaign.
With Coyle's assistance, the Tigers have won 10 tournaments and have continually broken and reset the program record book listings. The 2017-18 season saw big things take place, as Mizzou claimed one tournament title (Johnie Imes) and had two other top-three finishes. The Tigers closed the regular season with a solid eighth-place finish at the 2018 SEC Championships, and advanced to match play, where they reached the quarterfinals before being edged by number-one seeded South Carolina, 3-0-2. Mizzou impressed the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee enough throughout the course of the year to earn a bid to the Tallahassee Regional, where they finished in 10th place overall.
The Tigers have also excelled in the classroom. In 2017-18, seven of Mizzou's golfers landed on the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll, which led all Southeastern Conference women's golf teams.
Coyle helped the Tigers set a new school record in the 2013-14 season as Mizzou finished the season with a stroke average of 300.12. Individually, Jess Meek set the freshman all-time low stroke average in her first season with the Tigers.
In 2010, Coyle finished fourth at the Missouri State Amateur Championship. A year earlier she took fifth place in that event. She has continued her playing success as she won back to back Missouri Women's Mid-Amateur Championships in 2012 and 2013.
The former Mindy Bullard led the Tigers to their first appearance at the NCAA National Championships with her outstanding effort at the NCAA Central Regional. She finished in a tie for 20th with fellow senior, Maria Ohlsson as the leading scorers for the Tigers at the 2005 NCAA Regional.
She lowered her stroke average by almost a half stroke from the fall to the spring in her senior season and was one of the most consistent Tiger competitors during her time. Coyle shot a career-best at the Mountain View Intercollegiate her senior year and was one of only two Tigers to play in every tournament during the 2004-05 season.
In 2003, as a sophomore, Coyle led the Tigers to a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championships, which Mizzou hosted at the Country Club of Missouri. She finished second in the individual standings, and was one of three Tigers to medal at the event.
Coyle earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Leisure Service Management and a Master's in Education degree in Health Promotion with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from Mizzou. She is a native of Warrensburg, Mo., where she was a pole-vaulter and a four-time All-State golfer. She won the State golf title as a junior, took second in her senior season, third as sophomore and eighth in her freshman season.
Coyle and her husband, Tim, were married in the summer of 2009 and reside in Columbia with daughters Callie and Adeline.
