Indoor Track - Finished in first place at the Illinois-Iowa-Missouri Border Battle meet to open the season, with a jump of 5.10m … Had a season high performance of 5.30m at the Missouri Invitational in Columbia, finishing in first … Took home a sixth-place finish at the SEC Championships in Arkansas, posting a jump of 5.15m.

Outdoor Track - Began the season with a first place finish at the Arkansas Spring Invitational, posting a 5.20m jump … Followed with three additional first place finishes at the John McDonnell Invitational, the Memphis Invitational and the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Lawrence, Kansas … His performance at the Memphis Invitational earned both a personal best jump and a new school record of 5.46m.

Matt competed for Lake Catholic HS...He was ranked in the top-fifteen of seniors in the U.S. for the indoor pole vault (eighth), outdoor pole vault (tenth), and 300m hurdles (15th)...He had quite the senior year, winning the New Balance National Championships in the decathlon and the OHSAA Championships in the 300m hurdles...He was also a three-time OHSAA All-State finisher for the pole vault (2014-15) and 200m dash (2015), including finishing as runner-up in the pole vault in 2015...He was also a New Balance qualifier in the decathlon in 2014, placing fourth in the field.
