- Averaged 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while helping power Layton to the Utah Class 5A State Championship semifinals as a senior in 2015-16.
- Substantial growth spurt leading up to his final season for Layton head coach Kelby Miller, evolving from a wing player into an all-state honorable mention forward to close his career.
- Helped the Lancers to their first state title since 1988 as a junior in 2014-15, chipping in 11 points in the championship game of Utah's largest high school division.
- Layton and Kemp overcame a 13-point second-half deficit to edge Brighton High School, 48-46, to take the crown.
- Blossomed as a senior forward, nearly doubling his scoring average from his junior season (6.9 points per game).
- Selected to play in the Utah High School Basketball Coaches Association's Senior All-Star Game at the conclusion of his final Layton season.
- Also earned all-state honorable mention from The Deseret News.

- Chose Mizzou due to his immediate connection with the Mizzou coaching staff, the reputation of the Southeastern Conference and his desire to help build the Tigers basketball program.
