Kyle Levermore is in his third season as an assistant coach with Missouri track and field after joining the program on June 12, 2023. He serves as the lead distance and cross country coach.
At Mizzou, he’s coached a host of decorated athletes. Drew Rogers was the SEC indoor champion last year in the 3000m run and was also an All-Region selection in cross country. Rahel Broemmel took sixth in the mile at the SEC indoor championships, was All-SEC in cross country, and has top-10 times at Mizzou in the mile, 3000m and 5000m. She was also one of four Tigers who qualified for the NCAA Championships, First Round, along with Rogers, Monica Wanjiku and Lasse Funck. Under Levermore’s direction, the men’s and women’s cross country teams have achieved consistent success, including top-five finishes at the Gans Creek Classic, fifth-place team finishes at the SEC Championships, and appearances at the NCAA Midwest Regional, with multiple athletes posting personal bests and All-SEC honors.
Others who have starred at the conference and national level have included Anneken Viljoen and Wanjiku in the mile, Elijah Limo and Josh Allison in the 3000m steeplechase, Kelsey Schweizer who was an All-American and school record holder in the 800m run, Blake Morris in the 10,000m run, Jenna Schwartz in the 5000m and 10,000m runs, Royce Fisher in the 3000m steeplechase and Davis Helmerich in the 1500m. Levermore also played a key role in positioning Missouri to host multiple home cross country meets, including the NCAA Cross Country Championships at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
Levermore played an important role in Missouri’s top-ten nationally ranked 2023-24 freshman recruiting class. In the last two years, middle distance and distance runners at Mizzou have posted 12 times that rank in MU’s all-time top-10 lists.
Before his tenure with the Tigers, Levermore spent four years at Georgetown, where he helped lead the women's cross country team to three top-20 finishes at NCAA Championships, including a 10th-place performance in the 2022 title race. During his time as an assistant, Georgetown's women's cross country team captured two NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships (2021, 2022) and three Big East Championships (2020, 2021, 2022). Individually, Levermore helped coach 13 USTFCCA All-Americans, 20 Big East Champions, and 66 athletes who set top-20 all-time program marks.
Under his guidance, seven men broke four minutes in the mile and four men broke 1:50 during the 2022 indoor season. Robert Brandt took fifth at the 2021 NCAA Championships in the 5000m (13:19.11) and finished fourth at the 2022 NCAA Championships in the 10,000m (27:43.17), Jack Salisbury placed sixth in the 1500m during the 2021 NCAA Championships, and Lucas Guerra captured the 2022 US U20 Championship over 3000m and represented Team USA at the 2022 World U20 Championships. Additionally, Parker Strokes, a three-time All-American, posted the third fastest time in NCAA history (8:18.88) in the 3000m steeplechase and claimed third at the 2021 NCAA Championships in the event.
Levermore, an experienced and accomplished recruiter, assisted the Hoyas in garnering two top-five ranked men's freshman classes in 2021 and 2022. Serving as the recruiting coordinator, he brought in a top-five women's transfer class in 2022.
A 2019 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Levermore twice earned All-SEC honors in the 3000m steeplechase and was a member of three SEC Championship-winning teams in cross country, and two fifth-place team finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. In 2016-17, Levermore was part of the Razorbacks' team that captured the SEC triple crown, winning conference titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.
A native of Mahwah, N.J., Levermore was a four-time high school state champion and one of five athletes ever in the state's history to win titles in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters. In 2014, he qualified for the U20 Outdoor Championships in the 5000 meters, where he finished seventh.
Levermore earned a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising/Public Relations from Arkansas and obtained a Master's Degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown.
