2010: After missing the first month due to injury, Poet returned on March 14 against Illinois State, where she drove in a run on a pinch hit single. Her first start of the year came the following week against Wichita State at DP, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. She started three of the five games at the Demarini Invitational at designated player. With the Tigers down 5-4 in the top of the seventh against Texas A&M, Poet came off the bench with a pinch hit RBI single with two outs to tie the game.
2009: Throughout the season, Kathryn Poet split her starts in the outfield, 13 in left and 13 in right, managing a spotless 1.000 fielding percentage that included 22 putouts. Poet was Missouri's designated hitter in the Tigers' April 22 game against Iowa State and finished the day with a 2-for-3 outing that included driving in the fifth and final run of the game. As a sophomore, Poet managed a .244 average and bat .261 in NCAA postseason play. Taking on Illinois in game one of the NCAA Regional held in Columbia, Mo., Poet hit her first home run of the season, a two-run blast, that gave Missouri a 5-1 win over the Fighting Illini. The Tiger outfielder was a perfect 3-for-3 in game three of the NCAA Super Regional against No. 1 seeded UCLA. Batting third, Poet knocked base hits in the first, second and fourth innings, scoring in each of her at bats. Throughout the three-game series in Los Angeles, Poet hit at a .333 clip. Poet was one of only two Tigers to score in Missouri's second game of the Women's College World Series. Taking on ninth-ranked Georgia on May 30, Poet reached base on a single and scored on teammate Marla Schweisberger's single to left center.
2008: Finishing her freshman campaign with a .234 average, outfielder Poet saw significant time in right field and managed a .967 fielding percentage. Poet crushed five home runs in her first year with the Tigers, the most of her freshman class, and tallied two doubles on the season. Playing in Missouri's first Big 12 game of the season, Poet hit a grand slam in the first inning of the April 21 game, helping the Tigers take a dominating 5-0 lead over Oklahoma State on University Field. Poet pinch hit for the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning in Missouri's second game of the NCAA Super Regional Tournament against Alabama. Connecting for a two-out single up the middle, Poet was stranded on second as the game came to an end. Poet was credited with 25 RBI on the campaign and recorded six multiple RBI games.
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy: Poet played four years of softball at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. Seeing time at shortstop, second base, center field and pitcher, Poet was named her class' Athlete of the Year her freshman (2004) and junior (2006) seasons and was awarded team Most Valuable Player honors her junior (2006) and senior (2007) years. Recognized as her school's California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Female Student-Athlete of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year, Poet was named to the first-team all-mission league in 2006 and 2007. Before graduating in 2007, Poet received seven letters as a member of both the softball and track and field teams. Poet played club softball with the SoCal Sliderz.
Personal: Born Feb. 5, 1988, Kathryn Poet is the daughter of Jim Poet and Marie King. Poet has one brother, James (24), and one sister Michelle (19). Poet is double majoring in biology and nutrition and fitness.
