Jose Carballo enters his third year at Mizzou and his second as director of recruiting and operations.
Carballo, who was elevated from director of player personnel in the summer of 2024, oversees all of the program's recruiting operations and leads the development of the Tigers’ catching corps. His energetic, relationship-driven approach emphasizes player growth, accountability, and a high-performance standard that reflects the core values of Mizzou Baseball.
Before joining Mizzou, Carballo spent six years at Bethune-Cookman University. He served as the Wildcats’ hitting coach and recruiting coordinator from 2018–2023, following his start as a volunteer assistant in 2017. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping the program’s offensive identity and elevating its recruiting footprint.
A four-year standout on the diamond for B-CU, Carballo began his coaching career after a short stint in independent professional baseball in Puerto Rico. As a player, Carballo was a part of three conference championships and three NCAA Regional appearances.
The Cataño, Puerto Rico, native also filled the role of volunteer assistant before being promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2019 season. Carballo is married to his wife, Alex.
