Jonathan Roof joins Steve Bieser’s staff for his first season as a volunteer assistant in 2018. 

Roof, a Paducah, Ky., native, started all 160 games that he played in during his three-year career for Jake Boss at Michigan State. He was selected in the eighth round of the 2010 draft by the Texas Rangers and embarked on a six-year professional career, reaching AAA Pawtucket in the Boston Red Sox organization. He returned to Michigan State in 2016 to join Coach Boss’ staff before joining Mizzou’s staff in 2018, serving as the volunteer assistant with a focus on defensive development.

“I am thrilled to have Jonathan join our staff. His wealth of knowledge and experience in the game, both collegiately and in the professional ranks, will help us,” Bieser said. “He was a great player at Michigan State and he was the type of guy who maximized his skillset every day. He is someone that our players can look up to and hopefully embody his competitive spirit.”
