Mizzou Baseball Pitchers of the Week
Jeff Emens - RHP - Sophomore
Kelly Fick - LHP - Junior
Sophomore Jeff Emens and junior Kelly Fick share the honor of Pitcher of the Week for Mizzou this week.
Emens entered Friday night's game with two outs in the ninth inning and got the next batter to ground out, sending the game into extra innings. He remained in the game, pitching 4.1 innings in which he allowed no runs and just two hits. Emens struck out three and claimed his first career victory.
Fick was forced into action early in Saturday's game, when MU's starter Nick Tepesch left after one inning of work with an injury. Fick turned in 5.2 scoreless innings of work, giving up just three hits and striking out three. He retired the side in order in the second, fifth and sixth innings and did not face more than four batters in an inning until the seventh, when he was relieved by sophomore Ryan Clubb with two outs in the inning.
The Tigers' homestand continues as they host North Dakota in a four-game series this week. The series starts with games at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Sunday.
