The Mizzou volleyball program has announced its competition schedule for the upcoming spring semester. As some know, the spring season in volleyball is a lot like the spring football season. The team will go through strength and conditioning and is allowed to practice as well, giving the team a chance to prepare for the 2010 season. The 2010 schedule was just recently announced as well. The schedule is highlighted by a trip to Malibu, Calif., for the Pepperdine Invitational.
It's back! Most people need a lot of luck on their side to leave Las Vegas a big winner. However, it was not luck that gave the No. 15 gymnastics team its big win on Friday night, it was pure determination, perseverance and talent.
Last Friday, the Mizzou track and field team opened its 2010 indoor season with a variety of great performances at the Missouri Invitational. In case you are wondering, several Mizzou student-athletes rank among the best in the Big 12, as you can see in the Big 12 weekly performance lists.
The weather outside may make it hard to believe, but we are just over a month away from the start of the Mizzou Baseball season. This Friday is the First Pitch Celebration, which is the annual event that helps kickoff the baseball season.
News and Notes from around Missouri Basketball heading into the week of January 11.
The Big 12 Conference office has provided Mizzou with the final television ratings for the 2009-10 college football bowl season, and it's always interesting to dig into the "science" of TV ratings. What the raw numbers show is that Mizzou's Texas Bowl appearance against Navy drew a rating of 2.47, which equates to roughly 2,444,617 households.
Now that the 2009 college football season has officially ended (and with it, the official NCAA stats are now finalized), I thought my first /sports/2015/3/19/GEN_2014010156.aspx entry could touch on the record achievements by Tigers this past season.
A master list of all the NCAA and MU records either broken or tied is at the end, but before we get to that, I wanted to touch on a couple of things which stand out…

Bill Pollock, sports director of the Missourinet, visited with head Softball coach Ehren Earleywine last month for a preview of the 2010 season. Coach and reporter spent several minutes going over last year's success -- which ended in a trip to the Women's College World Series -- and looking ahead to this season.
Pollock also chatted with Chelsea Thomas, who agreed to pitch to Bill for a 3-at-bat sequence. Video of the entire interview comes after the jump. We won't give away what happened, other than to say Bill's body, if not his ego, is still intact.
Hello Tiger Fans from Mizzou Arena. All is quiet on the main arena floor at 5 p.m., but Kimmie English has just arrived to get prepared for tonight's game against Savannah State.
There is a rumor it's snowing outside, but it's plenty warm inside Mizzou Arena. If all else fails, Kimmie said he would relinquish his locker room sleeping quarters if fans need a place to stay (he was kidding of course).
Missouri is looking to run its home court winning streak to 29 games tonight vs. the Savannah State Tigers. The visitors have been on the road for quite some time. They played a game at Western Illinois (loss) and drove straight to Columbia from Macomb, Ill., after the game.
In other news, Missouri's RPI is up to 70. In addition to its current winning streak, the Tigers got some help from Georgia who earned a rivalry win against #17 Georgia Tech on Tuesday evening in Athens.
There are three other games around the Big 12 tonight. Kansas hosts former Missouri NCAA Tournament foe Cornell at home and Iowa State hosts the Duke Blue Devils at the United Center in Chicago. Baylor vs. Morgan State in Waco, Texas, rounds out tonight's Big 12 schedule.
