Greetings everyone and welcome to Burg Blog No. 2. Due to the outpour of positive feedback, I'm back at it again for another post.
Now, I know most of you only want to know about the doings in my own life (since I'm the most interesting member of the team of course), but this edition will mostly be about my teammates. All of whom don't read this; so this should be fun. Starting with the newcomers...
Starting with the newcomers:
Jakeenan Gant - Jakeenan is the most well rounded freshman I've seen since I've been here. His shooting ability and athleticism are well beyond his years. He is someone Mizzou fans should be extremely excited about. The only downside is his name. In practice, "JA-KEE-NAN" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. So, I'm changing your name. Please feel free to submit nicknames for Jakeenan to me on twitter.
Namon Wright - The similarities between Namon and Kim English are scary. The lights out shooting ability is what first helped me make the comparison. But, the basketball IQ and team-first mentality solidified it. On top of all that, they both have strange names.
D'Angelo Allen - D.A. is a freak athlete. He has already had his fair share of poster dunks in the few weeks he's been on campus. But, that's not the most impressive thing about him. Most people take pride in their jump shot, but D.A. takes pride in his defense. There's this tall guy with gray hair and a deep voice that likes defense too, so I think they'll get along nicely.
Also, last week was our very first individual camp of the summer. This may be my favorite part of being a Mizzou basketball player. It's crazy the flashbacks I get while coaching these young kids, because it feels like yesterday I was at the camp myself. I remember idolizing the players and hanging on to every word they said to me. It's unbelievable that I became one of them. I can only hope a few of them feel the same about me. But, I doubt it, because they probably think I look old enough to be a coach (see receding hairline). But in all seriousness, if you haven't signed your kids up, do it, so I can destroy them in knockout.
Lastly, a huge shout-out to Jordan Clarkson for getting drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers. Jordan is used to playing with superstars like me, so playing alongside Kobe (Bryant) will be an easy transition.
Jabari Brown is one of the most motivated and hardworking teammates I've ever had. The only explanation I can think of is that most scouts don't have cable... Or maybe they missed the Kentucky game when he had 33 against first round talent. That being said, I know Jabari will take advantage of his opportunity with the Houston Rockets and have a successful NBA career.
Love you my dudes, and don't forget that I had more dunks than both of you combined last year!
Thanks for reading my Blog and I'll be back in a couple of weeks with some more musings around Mizzou Basketball. Follow me on Twitter @RyRos44 and let me know what you would like to hear about!
