SOPHOMORE (2018)

  • Posted a 3.34 ERA and three wins while serving as Mizzou’s Friday night starter for much of the season as he made 16 appearances, including 10 starts
  • Pitched 70-plus innings for the second consecutive season, amassing 70.0 as a sophomore, striking out 76 batters
  • Moved into the weekend rotation against Mississippi State (March 23) and earned a win over the eventual NCAA Regional bound Bulldogs, tossing 7.0 innings while allowing just one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts with the only blemish on his outing being a solo home run. The win helped Mizzou secure the series vs. Mississippi State
  • Was electric against NCAA Super Regional-bound Vanderbilt (April 19) as he tossed 6.0 innings while striking out a career-high 10 and surrendering just one earned run in a 2-1 Mizzou win that helped the Tigers take the series
  • Allowed just three earned runs over his final three starts of the season at South Carolina (May 11), vs. Tennessee (May 17) and vs. South Carolina in the SEC Tournament (May 22)
  • In the start against Tennessee (May 17), he went 7.0 innings and allowed just one run on six hits with eight strikeout and he did not walk a batter in the start as Mizzou claimed a 3-2 extra-inning win to help win the series
  • As a reliever during week two, he pitched 3.0 shutout innings at No. 24 Miami, striking out five and walking one
  • Finished the regular season ranked ninth in the SEC in strikeout-walk-ratio and was 10th in strikeouts per nine innings

FRESHMAN (2017)

  • All-SEC Freshman Team selection and two-time SEC Freshman of the Week after putting together a sensational rookie season
  • Went 8-2 on the mound as his eight wins are tied for the most ever by a Mizzou true freshman (Tanner Houck had eight in 2015, Kyle Gibson had eight in 2007), while also adding four saves
  • Made 22 appearances (three starts) and compiled a 2.72 ERA while striking out 81 over 79.1 innings
  • Following the SEC Tournament, Sikkema finished ranked sixth in the SEC in wins while leading the league in hits allowed per nine innings (5.90) and WHIP (0.88)
  • His 0.88 WHIP was ninth nationally and second among all freshmen nationally and his 5.90 hits per nine mark ranked 18th nationally and third among all freshmen
  • Ranked eighth in the SEC in ERA and seventh among all freshmen nationally
  • After allowing an earned run before collecting an out in his first collegiate appearance, he settled in and ran off a streak of 29.2 innings without an earned run from Feb. 18-March 25, spanning nine appearances
  • In those 29.2 innings, he struck out 48 batters and walked just seven while scattering only 16 hits with only two going for extra-bases … Had a win or save in eight of those nine appearances (5-0, three saves)
  • Named Kleberg Bank College Classic Most Valuable Player after going 1-0 with a save while tossing 7.0 shutout innings, striking out 11 while allowing only three hits against No. 25 Houston (Feb. 24) and Illinois (Feb. 26).
  • Pitched the final 2.2 innings against No. 25 Houston (Feb. 24), facing the minimum while fanning three
  • Against Illinois (Feb. 26), he tossed the final 4.1 innings and scattered just three hits while striking out a career-high eight to help Mizzou to a tournament title
  • Named a Midseason First-Team All-American by PerfectGame.com, the only freshman of the team
  • Moved into the starting rotation late in the season and tossed a complete game shutout while striking out seven with no walks and only four hits in his second career start at Tennessee (May 18), earning SEC Freshman of the Week
  • Also earned SEC Freshman of the Week following Mizzou’s series sweep of Alabama, during which he made two appearances and threw 5.1 shutout innings, striking out 10 against only three hits allowed

HIGH SCHOOL (CENTRAL DEWITT)

  • Had a standout prep career under head coach Shane Sikkema at Central DeWitt High School
  • Guided Central Dewitt to a state quarterfinal appearance as a senior, going 8-1 with a 1.03 ERA and 107 strikeouts
  • Limited batters to .107 hitting during his senior season
  • Had a quarter of his team’s 32 wins as a senior
  • Also hit .483 with 11 RBI as a senior, excelling at both parts of the game
  • In his career, Central Dewitt went 133-78 while he went 30-5 on the mound with a 0.83 ERA and 370 strikeouts, limiting batters to .136 hitting
  • Four-time All-Conference, All-District, Iowa Newspaper Association All-State, IHSSA All-State and Iowa High School Baseball All-State during his high school career
  • Named to the All-State Super Team in both 2015 and 2016
  • Also played soccer, earning All-District honors in 2015 and 2016.
