Biography

2015

  • Drafted with the first pick of the fourth round in the 2015 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks and began his professional career in June. 
  • Second Team All-SEC honoree after leading the SEC and the Tigers with 13 saves on the season.
  • His 13 saves on the season are a new school record, passing former Tiger great Ryan Stegall who had 12 in 2000.
  • Now has 16 career saves, tied for the third-most in program history with former standout Travis Wendte (2002-06). 
  • Named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award Midseason Watch List, honoring the top reliever in college baseball. 
  • Posted a 1.98 ERA in 25 appearances, spanning 36.1 innings while scattering just 32 hits with 39 strikeouts.
  • Allowed just nine walks on the season and limited batters to .235 hitting.
  • Recorded a win or save in all nine of Mizzou's one-run wins in 2015.
  • Earned a win and a save in each game of a doubleheader on two separate occasions in 2015 -- vs. Iona (2/13) and vs. UIC (2/28).
  • Struck out a career-high five batters over 2.1 innings in game two of a doubleheader at Georgia (3/14), earning his third win of the season in extra innings.

  • His school record-breaking 13th save came on May 19 against South Carolina in the SEC Tournament, tossing 2.0 innings to earn the save. 
  • Had 12 appearances in which he did not allow a hit. 

2014

  • Appeared in 26 games out of the bullpen, posting a 3-1 record with a 2.52 ERA over 35.2 innings.
  • Pitched the most innings (35.2) out of any pitcher who did not start a game.
  • Struck out the sixth-most batters on the team with 23.
  • Gave up 10 earned runs, 14 runs, and 43 hits on the season.
  • Earned back-to-back saves against UW-Milwaukee on March 18th and 19th.

2013

  • Appeared in 20 games, spanning 18.2 innings and compiled an 18.2 ERA while boasting an incredible 21-5 strikeout-walk ratio, the best on the team.
  • Was 0-3 on the year with one save, coming against Eastern Michigan in which he threw 0.1 innings on March 6.
  • Struck out a career-best four over 3.0 innings at Georgia (4/6) in a 5-6 loss.

High School

  • Went 9-0 with a 1.27 ERA and 81 strikeouts in his senior season at Webb City High School under the direction of head coach Chris Taylor.
  • Also batted .437 with two homers and 30 RBI in his senior season while guiding Webb City to an appearance in the District Semifinals. 
  • Played nearly every position while at Webb City, doing so at a very high level. He earned First Team All-Central Ozarks Conference honors as a shortstop in 2011 and then as an outfielder and pitcher in the 2012 season. 
  • Earned first team All-District honors in 2011 and 2012 as well. 
  • Displayed his athleticism by also playing basketball where he was a 2011-12 first team All-State selection. 
  • Also piled up the football accolades, earning first team All-State honors as a safety in 2010 and second team All-State honors as a quarterback in 2011. 
  • Led Webb City to a District title in 2011 and a second-place finish in the state playoffs in 2010. 
  • Helped the Webb City football team earn back-to-back state titles in 2010 and 2011 and district titles from 2009-12. 
  • Four-year honor roll student.

  • Born Sept. 5, 1993, to parents Brett Williams and Megan Loug in Joplin, Mo. 
  • Has plans of majoring in high school education while at Mizzou with aspirations of becoming a coach
