2009-10: Competing both 141 and 149 pounds during the 2009-10 season, Farinella amassed 13 wins in 23 matches, picking up five of those victories by pinning his opposition. Farinella opened his season with three straight victories at the University of Central Missouri Open, pinning his first opponent in 3:46 and tech falling the next by a 17-2 score. Farinella then defeated Jamal Parks of Oklahoma State, narrowly edging his conference foe by a 3-2 score. After dropping his match against teammate Kyle Bradley in sudden victory, Farinella bounced back with a 10-2 major decision over UCM's Cory Bloodgood as he went on to finish the event in fourth place. The following week at the Missouri Open, Farinella won three of his matches and finished in sixth place. He would take sixth again in early December at the Nittany Lion Open. Farinella opened the tournament with back-to-back wins, defeating both of his opponents by fall. He put his first opponent on his back in 6:29, and rolled over his second opponent in 2:40. He also defeated Michael Crowley from UNC-Greensboro by a 6-2 decision, and beat another opponent by a 5-2 score.
2008-09: Finishing his redshirt season with a 19-10 record, Farinella competed in six tournaments and recorded four top-five finishes. Farinella wrestled at 141 pounds and finished as high as second at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open Dec. 7, taking third at both the Missouri and Missouri Valley College Opens. Of Farinella's 19 wins, five were by way of fall and one marked as a technical fall. Farinella's fastest fall was clocked at 1:23 seconds, Nov. 23, at the Missouri Open.
High School: A four-time state placer, Farinella earned top honors at 135 pounds during his senior season at Parkway North High School. Farinella finished the 2007-08 campaign with a perfect 45-0 record, bringing his career mark to 168-11. A native of Maryland Heights, Mo., Farinella wrestled in four different weight classes in high school finishing third at 112 pounds as a freshman, second at 125 pounds as a sophomore and second at 130 pounds as a junior. Farinella was a two-time runner-up at the freestyle state championships and finished third in Greco. The Parkway North Scholar Athlete of the Year, Farinella notched a 4.35 grade-point average and was named North's most outstanding wrestler all four years of high school. Farinella earned four letters in high school.
Personal: The son of Joe and Pam Farinella, Cody was born Dec. 25, 1989, in St. Louis, Mo. He has one brother, Joe (22), and intends to major in chemical engineering.
