
Women’s Golf Finishes Program-Best 12th at NCAA Championship

Carlsbad, Calif. – The Mizzou women's golf team wrapped up its best season in school history on Monday, finishing the NCAA Championship in 12th place.
The Tigers posted a team score of +23 during the 72-hole tournament for their 12th-place finish at the national tournament. Mizzou's finish is its best in school history, topping the previous standard of 16th in 2005, while the team's 1,175 stroke total also topped the team's previous-best total by 30 stokes (1,205 in 2005).
Freshman Ebba Liljeberg led the Tigers on the final day and throughout the tournament. The rookie carded a two-over 74 during in the fourth round to finish with a two-over tournament (72-73-71-74), good for 30th in the nation.
Senior Addie Dobson also led Mizzou with a two-over 74 on Monday, carding a seven-over tournament over the 72 holes (72-75-74-74) and placing 46th nationally. One day after posting the best 18-hole score by a Tiger at the NCAA Finals, junior Fleur van Beek posted a score of 76 on Monday to finish the tournament at +9 (72-79-70-76) and in 55th place.
Liljeberg, Dobson and van Beek posted the three best scores by a Tiger at the NCAA Finals in school history. Their scores of 290, 295 and 297, respectively, topped the team's previous record of 298, set by Denise Knaebel in 2005.
Playing in their final tournament, seniors Melanie Walker finished in 74th at +13 (73-73-74-81) and Jade Zamora placed 80th at +17 (71-75-80-79).
Dobson, Walker and Zamora keyed the Tigers into a national-championship contender during their four-year careers. The trio, along with head coach Caroline Westrup Gaeta, oversaw a program that ranked 120th in the nation the year before they arrived to now a 12th-place finish nationally in their final tournament.
