Combo guard Kennard Davis Jr. is returning home to the Show Me State, signing with the Mizzou men's basketball team on Friday.
A 6-foot-6 guard, Davis joins the Tigers after spending the 2025-26 campaign at BYU, helping the Cougars to 23 wins and a six seed in the NCAA Tournament. Davis started 32 contests for BYU, averaging 8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
"We're excited to welcome Kennard home to Missouri," said Whitten Family Head Coach Dennis Gates. "Kennard brings great experience to our program, both from a high-major starter at BYU and as an all-conference performer in the Missouri Valley Conference. He is a great playmaking guard who can play the one or the two for us and has also proven to be a serious threat from beyond the arc during his college career. He is also an elite on-ball defender and brings more size to our perimeter."
Davis ranked fourth on BYU in scoring during the 2025-26 season, knocking down 53 triples in his 32 games (1.7 per game). The junior also grew into his role as the season progressed, averaging 11.3 points over the final nine contests – shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from 3-point range.
Among his highlights during the year was a season-best 20 points in a Big 12 Tournament win over West Virginia, while tallying 15 points versus No. 1 Arizona – sinking five triples in each game.
A native of St. Louis, Davis spent two seasons at Southern Illinois prior to joining the Cougars. In 94 career games, he has totaled 927 points, 340 rebounds, 151 assists and 98 steals – making 43.0 percent of his field goals and 34.1 percent from 3-point range. He earned second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference accolades in 2024-25, averaging 16.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
Davis is the fourth transfer to join the Tigers during the spring transfer period. Along with Tennessee transfer Jaylen Carey, Providence transfer Jamier Jones, Kansas transfer Bryson Tiller and the nation's No. 7 freshman recruiting class, Davis joins a Mizzou program that is coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament bids and double-digit SEC-win campaigns for the first time since joining the conference in 2012.
