COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball junior shortstop Eric Maisonet was named to the 2026 Brooks Wallace Award Watch List on Wednesday morning, an award given annually to the nation's best shortstop, the College Baseball Foundation announced.
A native of Florida, Puerto Rico, Maisonet has played in 11 games and made nine starts for the Tigers at shortstop this season, batting .310 with a home run, a triple, nine RBI and nine runs scored. The switch hitter has also drawn five walks and has been hit four times, getting on base at a .462 clip.
Maisonet has helped the Tigers to a 10-2 start and an eight-game win streak entering this weekend's four-game series versus UIC (4-6). The Tigers became the fastest team in program history to score 100 runs (eight games) in last week's home opener versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The top 100 shortstops in the country were named to the watch list Wednesday, led by players demonstrating a complete game both offensively and defensively.
All games can be streamed on the Varsity Network by Learfield, with longtime Mizzou play-by-play announcer Tex Little on the call and Matt Michaels providing color. Games one, two and four of this weekend series can be streamed on SEC Network+.
