Mizzou opens the year with five-straight home meets at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.
Mizzou track and field kicks off its 2026 season by hosting the Alexis Jarrett Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.
INSIDE THE FIELDHOUSE
Mizzou welcomes SIUE, Kansas City, Central Methodist, Iowa Western CC, Barton CC and Cottey to Hearnes Center Fieldhouse. The Alex Jarrett Invitational opens the program's five-meet homestand for the indoor season.
Before the start of last year's indoor season, the facility's 200-meter track was refurbished with an eight-lane sprint straightaway, along with runways for pole vault and horizontal jumps. Since its opening in 1972, the venue has hosted multiple indoor track and field competitions, including the 1991 Big Eight Indoor Track & Field Championship.
MEET NAMESAKE: ALEXIS JARRETT
The Alexis Jarrett Invitational is named in honor of Alexis Jarrett, a trailblazer whose leadership helped establish women's athletics at Mizzou following the passage of Title IX. Beginning in the mid-1970s, Jarrett launched the university's first eight varsity women's sports programs and served as Mizzou's first coach for women's basketball, track and field, and softball, helping transform opportunity into lasting competitive success.
Jarrett also served as the university's first assistant athletics director and sports information director for women's sports, playing a key role in building programs from the ground up through recruiting, fundraising and campus partnerships. A lifelong advocate for women's athletics, she has remained a devoted supporter of Mizzou for more than five decades and was recognized as a Women's Athletics Trailblazer at the 2022 Mizzou Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony.
