2025 PREVIEW
No. 17 Mizzou volleyball kicks off the season after a historic run under third-year head coach Dawn Sullivan. The Tigers made waves finishing their 2024 campaign in the Round of 16 after besting Texas State and SMU in the NCAA Tournament.
Mizzou returns two All-SEC players, including one AVCA All-American in two-time defending SEC Libero of the Year senior Maya Sands. Sands for the second-straight season led the SEC with 4.53 digs per set and ranked second in the league with 535 total digs.
Redshirt junior setter Marina Crownover joined Sands in the All-SEC conversation, as she was a second teamer after being named SEC Setter of the Week three times and leading the conference in SEC play with 728 assists.
Two student-athletes appeared on the AVCA Player of the Year Watch List, as Sands and senior transfer outside hitter Caylen Alexander made the 30-player list. Alexander came to the Tigers after an AVCA All-American H.M. junior year at Hawai'i. Alexander led NCAA Division I with 611 total kills and ranked fifth in the nation with 5.09 kills per set. She also ranked second nationally with 676.5 points and ranked seventh in points per set (5.64).
Mizzou's top-returner in the kills category comes from senior outside hitter Janet deMarrais, who was third on the team with 309 kills (2.66 per set) during the 2024 campaign. On the defensive end, middle blocker senior Regan Haith comes into the season after leading the team in blocks with 89 (six solo, 83 assisted).
The Tigers added several key transfers to the program, including Tyrah Ariail (middle blocker from USC), Trinity Luckett (Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team middle blocker from St. Louis), and Alexander.
Mizzou added five first-year students to their 19-player roster, including outside hitter Asia Harvey (No. 1 recruit in Georgia and No. 10 recruit in the nation).
