COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou concluded spring practice No. 4 at Stephens Indoor Facility on Wednesday.
The Tigers started the day with special teams workouts before transitioning to team and positional drills. After practice Mizzou defensive coordinator Corey Batoon, graduate student linebacker Triston Newson and senior defensive end Zion Young met with members of the media to discuss spring ball.
"For me, I just wanted to take a chance and invest in myself for another year with the coaches here," Newson said about returning to Mizzou for one final season after a court ruling declared one extra year of eligibility for community and junior college transfers. "I feel like I created a great bond with them and my teammates. I also had another opportunity to further my education and just get better in my game. Perfect my craft."
MU returns to the practice field for its fifth spring workout on Friday.
"They're working hard and I'm working hard," Young said of the defensive line transfers that arrived this spring. "They're pushing me just off of them working hard. If I see them doing something I want to do it too. I want to keep my spot on the depth chart so they're just pushing me."
