Trent Mierl continues to have a strong rookie campaign for University of Missouri men's golf and on Wednesday, he was rewarded with SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
Mierl set season highs in the Tigers' trip to South Carolina, finishing tied for seventh in an 84-golfer field at The Hootie at Bulls Bay. The rookie carded a career-best nine-under 207 (69-73-65) for his second top-10 of the 2024-25 campaign.
Highlighting his week was a seven-under 65 during the final round of play. His collegiate-best score also ranks as the third-best 18 holes of play for a freshman in school history. Mierl carded two eagles during the round on the par-5 fourth and 10th, while also adding four birdies against just one bogey to complete the seven-under round.
"It was great to have another strong tournament and finish in the top 10 this week," Mierl said after the round. "The guys all played well this week and it's what we've been looking to see as a group all season. It's a great step to finishing the season off strong. MIZ!"
It marks the second SEC Freshman of the Week honors for Mierl this season. He also collected the accolade on Sept. 18 after placing third in the 30-golfer field at the season-opening Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational.
Mierl and Mizzou return to action when they host the Tiger Intercollegiate, teeing off on Monday, April 7 at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
