
Softball Drops Series Opener to No. 1 Oklahoma

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri softball dropped its series opener to No. 1 Oklahoma, 8-0, Friday at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
With the loss, Mizzou moves to 17-14 in 2025 and 0-4 in the SEC. The top ranked Sooners improve to 28-0 and 7-0 in league play.
Oklahoma began the scoring early in the first inning with a long ball from Gabbie Garcia to take a 3-0 lead.
Senior Julia Crenshaw drove a single down the left field line in the bottom of the third. She has now registered hits in three-straight games (four-game reached base streak).
The Sooners then extended their lead to eight in the top of the fifth inning aided by a home run and a fielding error.
Sophomore Marissa McCann was assessed the loss, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings.
Jayci Kruse came on to relieve McCann in the top of the fifth. Her first appearance at the Mizzou Softball Stadium in 2025 concluded with two strikeouts.
Taylor Ebbs walked to extend her reached base streak to 10 games. Stefania Abruscato was hit by a pitch to push her reached base streak to nine games.
Before the game Friday, Mizzou announced its 50th Anniversary All-Half-Century Softball Team to commence Alumni Weekend.

- The Tigers are back for game two of its home SEC series against No. 1 Oklahoma Saturday. First pitch is set for 2 p.m., CT at the Mizzou Softball Stadium. The game will be featured on SEC Network+.
- Saturday is Alumni Day, and the program will honor five decades of Mizzou Softball. 50th Anniversary Rally Towels will be given away to fans, while supplies last.
- Saturday's game is sold out and limited tickets are available for Sunday's finale.
