Roso Earns Singles Win in Tennis' Loss to No. 13 Texas

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri tennis dropped a home match to No. 13 Texas 6-1 at Green Tennis Center on Sunday, March 16. Missouri is now 10-7 (1-5 SEC), and Texas is 10-6 (4-3 SEC) this season.
First to finish in doubles was junior Andrea Artimedi and senior Inah Canete on court two, losing 6-2. Next were graduate student Lailaa Bashir and freshman Zoe Lazar, who lost 6-3 on court three. Senior Mary Brumfield and freshman Korina Roso went unfinished on court one and were down 5-3.
Brumfield forced a third set against the No. 70 ranked singles player, fighting back but falling short 1-6, 6-3, 1-6 on court one. Also forcing a third set was Bashir, who lost the first set but fought back in the second before falling 1-6, 6-3, 4-6 on court three. Roso was able to earn the point for the Tigers on court five as she won the first set 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreak and clinched the point by winning the second set 6-4.

"We had another encouraging performance today. We showed once again that we are very competitive at the highest level. We won a singles match with Korina, who played very well and showed toughness when it mattered. We forced a third set in two singles matches and battled on the other courts during singles. We also had our chances in doubles but couldn't execute well in the clutch moments. We will keep working hard for the next matches. We are hungry to win and determined to achieve our goals."

The Tigers will head on a road trip to Gainesville, Florida, to go up against the No. 61 Gators on Friday, March 21, at 5 p.m. CT. Heading next to Auburn, Alabama to play against No. 11 Auburn on Sunday, March 23 at noon CT.
