
No. 21 Volleyball Corals the Razorbacks in SEC Home Opener Sweep

No. 21 Mizzou Volleyball (9-5, 1-2 SEC) secured a win in the Battle Line Rivalry versus Arkansas (5-9, 1-2 SEC), 3-0, on Friday, Oct. 3, at Hearnes Center.
KEY PLAYERS

Senior Caylen Alexander led the team with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.

Senior Janet deMarrais earned 11 kills, scoring 14.5 points this match.

Redshirt senior Tyrah Ariail stayed strong at the net, providing seven block assists and nine kills.

Senior Maya Sands dominated the back row with 17 digs, eight assists, and a momentum starting seven-point serving run in the first set.
FIRST SET
The game started with an early Mizzou lead as rotation two server senior Maya Sands went on a seven-point run to give the Tigers a 9-1 lead. Redshirt senior Tyrah Ariail made two blocks mid-set as she kept the rally alive for MU.
Back-to-back kills by senior Regan Haith and redshirt junior Marina Crownover led the Razorbacks to take their second timeout of the set at 21-6. Arkansas went on a short run but the Tigers wrapped up the set with a final score of 25-11.
SECOND SET
Mizzou got the first point of the game before both teams traded points for the majority of the set. Freshman Maca Lobaglio split the Razorback block for a perfect kill, making the score 9-8. The Tigers tied the game 13-13 as Ariail posted a solo block. Mizzou got a two-point lead after a kill by senior Caylen Alexander to make it 17-15.
Alexander spurred a run after a kill that pushed the Razorbacks into a timeout at 22-18. Mizzou finished off the set at 25-20 after Ariail posted a kill. Alexander totaled six kills in this set and one ace.
THIRD SET
Arkansas opened up the set with a 5-1 advantage, until Mizzou got two points with true freshman Zoey Matias-Lopez serving. Senior Janet deMarrais recorded a five-point run as the server to bring the score to 9-7. The Tigers immediately got the ball back and went on a three-point run.
The teams returned to the court going back-and-forth, but even so, Mizzou slowly climbed to a four-point lead. The Tigers added to their lead, 20-14. Arkansas overpassed a ball and Regan Haith was there to find the kill, following that one strong block later and we were at match point. Alexander made the final kill of the evening to end the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
GAME NOTES

Missouri leads the Battle Line Rivalry with Arkansas 17-6, marking 7-3 in their last 10 matchups.

Head coach Dawn Sullivan is 49-27 with the Tigers, and has an overall record of 158-65.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will face off against Oklahoma this Sunday, Oct. 5, with homecourt advantage. This will be their fourth match of the SEC slate this season.
