
Innes Sets Program Record at Bob Teel Invitational

Track & Field wrapped up its third of five-straight home meets Saturday.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri track & field program competed in the Bob Teel Invitational on Saturday at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse, highlighted by Sam Innes, who set the men's weight throw program record, and Allison Newman, who claimed the eighth-best time in school history in the mile.
TOP TIGERS
Innes, a redshirt junior from Columbia, recorded a new program record in the weight throw with a 22.98m (75-4 ¾ ) result. The previous record was held by Chris Rohr, throwing 22.71m (74-6) in 2009 at the Iowa State Classic. Innes now ranks fifth nationally in the 2025 season thus far.
Newman posted a time of 4:43.50 in the women's mile, marking the eighth-fastest indoor time in program history. The senior from Germantown, Tennessee placed first and ran her best time in the event.
Senior Angus Beer from Rozelle, Australia placed first in the men's mile, running a time of 4:04.28. His teammate junior Ethan Lee from Liberty, Missouri followed only .02 seconds behind him, taking second in the race.
RECAP
The Bob Teel Invitational, which featured 12 schools, saw five Tigers take first and occupied 14 total podium positions. Missouri also set 14 personal records throughout the meet.
Junior Petra Gombas placed first in the weight throw, making it her third victory and throwing a personal best of 18.78m. On the men's side, redshirt sophomore Clayton Kamp placed third in the weight throw and set a personal best with a throw of 18.46m.
Senior Skylar Coffey and Kamp each set collegiate bests in the shot put event, placing first and fifth, respectively. Coffey threw for 18.47m, an impressive full meter further than second-place Hayden Dixon.
Seven of the 14 men in the mile ran personal best races, with Beer and sophomore Yordanos Zelinski being among the top finishers to set a personal record. All 14 of the Tigers in the race finished within just under 12 seconds of each other.
Freshman Allison Geen set a personal record in the pole vault event, clearing 3.60m and placing seventh overall.

Missouri track and field returns to Hearnes Center Fieldhouse for a fourth-consecutive home meet on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1 for the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational. The meet will be open and free for spectators.
